A remarkable late rally from The Ravens saw them snatch a late point again title challenging Forest Green Rovers despite being reduced to ten men while trailing 2-1 in a dramatic entertaining Bank Holiday game at Hayes Lane.
Bromley were pinned back by their high flying opposition from kick off with Captain Rob Swaine booked for a foul on Brett Williams inside the first two minutes.
From the free kick the ball went out for a corner and despite Alan Julian saving from Darren Carter, Kurtis Guthrie was on hand to stab the ball home for to put Rovers in front.
The Ravens battled back, but found it impossible to break through the well drilled Rovers back line, their only effort on goal coming from Moses Emmanuel whose shot was comfortably saved by Steve Arnold and an unsuccessful penalty appeal for a foul on Lee Minshull.
As the half went on Julian made a fantastic double save from Williams, but just before the break he was unable to prevent the visitors going 2-0 up when Bromley failed to clear their lines from a free kick and Guthrie scored his second from close range.
Bromley started the second half brightly, Adam Coombes appeared to be brought down for a penalty, but appeals were waved away.
The Ravens continued to press and got their reward on the hour when Adam Cunnington was set free down the right and crossed for Pierre Joseph-Dubois who swept the ball home past Arnold despite appeals for offside from the furious visiting defence.
The game was bogged down in midfield for a spell, but Bromley still created the best chances, Louis Dennis sent in a great free kick which Jack Holland headed narrowly wide at the far post.
Then the tables turned even further in Forest Green’s favour when with five minutes to go Paul Rodgers was sent off for what appeared to be a well executed slide tackle, referee Whitton’s decision somewhat influenced by the Rovers players surrounding him on mass.
Elliott Frear sent a low effort across the face of goal for Rovers with the next attack, but despite having ten men The Ravens buoyed by a sense of injustice carried on pressing.
Cunnington appeared to be brought down in the box, but again no decision came and a corner was awarded.
Rhodell Gordon sent in the dead ball and Holland rose above everyone to head home the equaliser high into the roof of the net in the final minute of injury time.
This was a real show of character and attitude from Neil Smith’s side, denting their well resourced visitors hopes of winning automatic promotion and showing that Bromley will give any team in the National League a decent game at Hayes Lane.
