At 2-0 down after twenty minutes it looked like Bromley were facing up to their fourth consecutive league defeat, but a fine comeback and their first two goals of the season saw The Ravens secure a first point, which will hopefully kick start their season.
The game began with Bromley looking bright going forward with five forward players starting the game including Millwall loanee Alfie Pavey making his debut, but they struggled to turn the possession into chances. Aldershot slowly built momentum though and they went in front on 14minutes with their first real attack after a free kick down the left found Scott Rendell unmarked who swept the ball home from ten yards.
The Shots dominated from there and they were 2-0 up only six minutes later when Matt McClure surged through the home defence before crashing the ball home past Alan Julian. Bromley slowly recovered from going two down and created some half chances with Pavey heading a corner across goal which evaded everyone. Then after a strong spell of pressure The Ravens scored their first goal of the season when Joe Anderson sent in a fantastic ball for Tobi Sho-Silva to power his header past Mark Smith for 1-2 on 44minutes. In first half injury time Rob Swaine nearly equalised, but his header from another corner went just wide.
Half time 1-2
Bromley took a while to build momentum again in the second half, they had a scare when Anderson headed against his own bar and The Shots had a decent spell of pressure, but the home defence held out well. Then Dave Martin set up Bradley Goldberg whose shot was saved by Smith, before the real trigger to Bromley’s recovery came when Louis Dennis was brought on as sub.
Sho-Silva set up Dennis with a superb pass that the sub skilfully controlled and slotted under Smith from six yards out to equalise on 73minutes. Soon after Sho-Silva went close, but the visitors again had a strong spell in the final ten minutes, McClure hit a fierce drive which Julian tipped over the bar, Rendell headed wide, Nick Arnold had a free kick well gathered by Julian and then fired just over in injury time, but The Ravens held on.
Neil Smith now gets his side ready for a tough home game against Gateshead on Saturday, hoping to carry the positive momentum on.
