Bromley came out of top of this thrilling local derby thanks to a dramatic late Pierre Joseph-Dubois winner to keep The Ravens up in the Play Off spots.
With both sides looking to attack and give their all on a heavy pitch the first yellow card came within a minute of the start when Danny Waldren took out two Sutton players with a heavy tackle in the centre circle.
It was the visitors who looked the stronger as things progressed as they pressed Bromley back for long spells. Billy Medlock had a header saved by Seb Brown and then blazed the rebound over, before Sutton took the lead they deserved on 14 minutes when a deep corner was back towards goal by Bedsente Gomis and swept home by the unmarked Jamie White from six yards out.
Bromley came to life after going behind with Louis Dennis forcing a save from Alan Julian and it was the young winger who set up the equaliser on 18 minutes when he latched onto Moses Ademola’s quick free kick and crossed for Dubois to head home.
The visitors continued to dominate the half, but the sides went in all square.
The second half saw Sutton again have the large share of the possession, but Bromley always looked dangerous on the break. Ademola hit the post and also had a header well saved, while United went close through Craig Dundass and Gomis who should have done better when in a great position.
After a series of substitutions The Ravens then started to create better opportunities, sub Jamie Slabber had an effort saved by Julian as did Adam Birchall and Dubois hit the bar with a header after Rob Swaine had set him up.
With both sides looking to win the game Bromley got the vital break late on when Reece Prestedge and Slabber both saw shots parried by Julian from close range before Dubois powered home his second goal of the game to win the points for Mark Goldberg’s men.
Bromley now travel to fellow high flyers Basingstoke on Tuesday for what should be quite some game.
