Bromley 2-1 Maidstone United

Bromley’s pre-season continued with a 2-1 victory over National League South Maidstone Utd on Tuesday night at Hayes Lane after falling behind early one against a Stones squad that featured eleven trialists.

Maidstone took the lead after just one minute when Trialist A latched on to a through pass and coolly slotted the ball under Teddy Sharman-Lowe to make it 1-0 to the visitors.

Bromley struggled to settle agaianst a highly motivated Stones side that gave them no time on the ball, eventually Andy Wodman’s side did settle and started to move the ball round well as things progressed.

The Ravens were gifted a way back into the game on 21 minutes when Reiss Greenidge fouled Byron Webster in the box when challenging for a corner and Referee Isaac Searle awared Bromley a penalty. Adam Marriott tucked the spot kick away to make it 1-1 and Bromley went on to press for another from there.

Marriott went close soon after from a well placed Marcus Sablier cross, that was cleared for a corner. The Ravens had the better of things going into the half, but Sol Wanjau-Smith did go close for Maidstone with a low free kick that skidded just wide.

The second half saw George Elokobi’s team start the stonger, before Bromlety rallied. The impressive Josh Passley crossed for George Alexander who had a header well saved by Trialist A in goal.

The breakthrough for the home side came on 53 minutes when a Ben Krauhaus corner was headed home by Alexander at the far post to make it 2-1 to The Ravens.

Devonte Aransibia had a shot saved by Sharman-Lowe as The Stones looked to draw level, but Bromley had the better of things over all, with Jude Arthurs firing over when well placed.

The game became more stretched late on, with lots of changes and there were a few heavy challenges going in, Cole Kpekawa came on for Bromley fans’ first look at the center back who looked very assured.

The only real effort on goal came from a Maidstone Trialist sub who had no number on his shirt, firing wide from the edge of the area.

Andy Woodman’s squad next play Milwall U21s on Saturday at Hayes Lane at they prepare for the National League kick off on 5th August.
