Bromley 2-0 Lincoln City
Bromley 2-0 Lincoln City

Despite missing several players through injury and suspension, plus losing two more during the game, Bromley still managed to find enough to beat Lincoln with a goal in either half in an entertaining game at Hayes Lane.

Before the game kicked off The Ravens were dealt an injury blow when Louis Dennis hobbled out of the warm up, this came on top of having five players already out and one suspended.

The reshuffled line up took well to its’ new shape with Pierre Joseph-Dubois playing at right back and Moses Emmanuel on the left wing.

The game got off to an open start with both sides having spells of pressure and the main incidents coming from corners at either end.

Emmanuel sent in a great cross for Jack Holland who headed against the bar and Holland again went close when he headed a Joe Anderson corner over.

Brad Goldberg was on the end of a terrible challenge from Terry Hawkridge as the visitors looked to be frustrated by Bromley’s quick attacking moves.

Emmanuel set up Adam Coombes who shot wide and Goldberg was denied by Paul Farman before the breakthrough came on 32 minutes. Goldberg raced on to a Dubois through ball down the right and sent in a perfect cross for Adam Cunnington to powerfully head home for 1-0.

The Imps rallied and Alan Julian had to make a fine point blank save from George Maris as they pressed from another corner, but Bromley held out despite losing Ali Fuseini to injury.

The second half saw Lincoln start the better, James Caton hit the side netting, Alex Simmons fired over from close range and Jonathan Muldoon had three fierce strikes well saved by Julian.

Then after soaking up plenty of pressure The Ravens struck, Cunnington playing in Goldberg who took the ball past Farman and rolled it into an empty net for 2-0 on 75 minutes.

Bromley then lost Coombes to injury after a shocking foul by Matthew Sparrow, which saw the Imps player booked.

Caton had a low effort tipped wide at the foot of the post by Julian late on, but The Ravens saw the game out with Goldberg narrowly missing the chance to make it three shooting just wide of the near post in stoppage time.

Neil Smith’s side now have a week to recover and hopefully get a few of the players back fit before they travel to Altrincham next Saturday, but despite the casualties Bromley came lots of positives from this showing of character and hard work sprinkled with skill and invention.
