In a hard fought battle on a very heavy and muddy pitch Bromley came out on top with two second half goals against a good Havant & Waterlooville side and put pressure on the league leaders with what could prove to be a pivotal win in the race.
Bromley started the better putting The Hawks under pressure with Moses Ademola having a goal bound shot blocked by a brave diving defender, The Ravens top scorer then went even closer with an over head kick that just went over the bar.
Reece Prestedge played in Ademola again soon after but this time his shot was well saved by Ryan Young when one on one.
As Bromley continued to press Ademola’s shot was deflected towards goal by Bradley Goldberg, but Young made another save.
After a long delay due to an injury for Jonathan Hooper following a tackle that saw Prestedge booked, Havant came right back into things with former Raven Ben Swallow firing over after a powerful run through the mud and going close again soon after.
The Ravens continued to create chances though with Rob Swaine twice heading narrowly wide from a corner, but going into the break The Hawks looked the stronger side having adapted to the worsening pitch conditions.
The second half saw Havant continue to have the better of things possession wise before Bromley battled back. Ali Fuseini played in Goldberg whose shot was deflected wide and from the corner Swaine headed the ball down to fellow centre back Jack Holland who smashed the ball into the top corner from twelve yards out.
As the game got bogged down in the heavy midfield both sides struggled to really create chances until Mark Goldberg ran the changes half way through the half.
Goldberg and Anthony Cook both had shots saved by Young and last year’s top scorer Goldberg also fired over, while Swaine bravely headed a corner just wide among flying feet cutting his head in the process.
Jamie Slabber had a god effort turned wide, before the killer goal came in the final minute when a half cleared corner fell to Fuseini who hit a low powerful drive across the area and into the far corner of the net to seal the win for Bromley.
Pacey winger Louis Dennis found some firmer turf to set up Goldberg in injury time with a well placed low cross, but the strikers lunging effort ran narrowly wide of the far post.
