Bromley 1-3 Eastbourne Borough
Bromley 1-3 Eastbourne Borough

Bromley suffered their seventh consecutive defeat and slipped further into trouble as Eastbourne completed their double over The Ravens, although the final score was harsh on Mark Goldberg’s men.

Bromley lined up 4-5-1 and opened well with Rory Hill forcing a save from Clark Masters, but it was Borough who took the lead on 16minutes when Ross Treleaven’s cross was headed home by Steve Brinkhurst. Lewis Taylor had a couple of close efforts as Bromley battled back, but in an open game Eastbourne also went close with Gary Hart, Treleaven and Matt Crabb all shooting just wide.

The second half saw Bromley push on and they equalised on 48minutes when a corner fell to Salifou Ibrahima who sent a low powerful shot past Masters into the corner of the net. Hill went close soon after as did Hakeem Araba whose header was well saved by Masters, but the Ravens momentum was halted on 69 minutes when Ben Austin headed home a corner unmarked at the near post.

Ibrahima hit the bar with a header soon after for the home side, before the game was put beyond doubt by Treleaven who pounced on a poor back pass by Rob Gillman and beat the advancing Tommy Forecast to make it 1-3 on 80 minutes. Bromley then lost their way and the solid Eastbourne side comfortably saw out the game.

This was a much improved Bromley display with Debutant Freddie Warren having a very solid game in midfield, but they still lacked the quality needed to compete in this league.
