Bromley slipped further into the relegation mire with another poor home display against a Basingstoke side that didn’t need to move out of third gear to win this game.
Bromley started well, but on their first attack the visitors took the lead on 12minutes when poor defending let in Matt Warner to slot home a cross from close range.
With Wes Daly running the midfield Tim Sills went close for ‘stoke before they made it 2-0 on 24minutes when Danny Waldren playing out of position at right back was exposed and a low cross was turned home by Bradley Bubb.
Late on Lewis Taylor was just off target with a couple of efforts for The Ravens, but that was as good as it got for Mark Goldberg’s struggling side.
The second half saw Basingstoke dominate the game, Stuart Lake & David Pratt went close while the home side looked woefully disorganised and unable to cope with the changes to formation.
The substitution of Hakeem Araba was met with a chorus of boo’s from the long suffering home fans. Eventually The Ravens improved with Warren and Waldren (back in midfield) going close, but ‘stoke made it 3-0 when Wes Daly blasted a penalty home on 83minutes following a clumsy foul.
This was a cue for many home fans to vote with their feet missing Rob Gillman’s injury time consolation goal following up a Waldren free kick which had hit the post.
