Bromley’s debut season in the National League came to a disappointing end as they were out played by an Aldershot side who defended well and took their chances.
Neil Smith went into the game with an attacking formation using three forwards and looking to push forward, Ali Fuseini put an effort narrowly wide early on, but they still fell behind on ten minutes when the visitors scored with their first attack.
A low cross from the right caught the home defence flat footed and Charlie Walker was first to in finishing from close range.
The Ravens battled back though, Rohdell Gordon saw a free kick deflect wide off the wall before they drew level on seventeen minutes when after The Shots had failed to clear their lines Fuseini launched a fantastic effort from 25 yards which cannoned into the net off the post leaving Dan Thomas with no chance.
The game flowed from end to end Dan Walker went close for The Shots while Gordon shot wide for Bromley, but as the half came to an end the visitors finished stronger as Cheye Alexandra and Nathan Ralph had shots saved.
The second half continued from where the first ended with Aldershot dominating play and looking the only side likely to score.
Giorgio Rasuid had a shot saved by Julian, but the Ravens keeper was powerless to stop the visitors scoring on sixty three minutes when Dan Walker’s cross shot cannoned in to the net off Sean Francis.
Brad Goldberg had a rare shot for the home side sending an effort just wide after a powerful run through The Shots defence, but it was brief respite from being pinned back in their own half.
Walker headed an effort just wide soon after, but he did notch his second goal on seventy five minutes. Appearing to be at least three yards offside Walker received the ball in acres of space just outside the box and coolly slotted the ball past Julian for 3-1 with the home defence stood appealing to the linesman.
The final few minutes passed without incident as The Ravens looked completely bereft of attacking ideas and unable to keep possession in midfield.
With the season now over Bromley finished a creditable fourteenth in the table, but manager Neil Smith will need to work hard in the summer to re-energise a squad who are all still on contract for next season with the exception of top scorer Moses Emmanuel whose deal expires next month.
