Bromley 1-2 Concord Rangers
Bromley 1-2 Concord Rangers

Bromley suffered their first home league defeat of the season after losing out to a well drilled and rugged Concord side who deserved their three points with this impressive display.Bromley v Concord EB2

Bromley started the game well with Rob Swaine having a header well saved by former Bromley keeper Jamie Butler after a good spell of pressure. The game evened out with Concord looking dangerous hitting long diagonal balls over the midfield to pacey front men.

Both sides created chances, Sam Higgins was denied by Joe Welch for the visitors while Pierre Joseph-Dubois had an effort saved by Butler, but it was The Ravens who took the lead on 38 minutes.Bromley v Concord EB3

After Jake Reid was denied by Butler, Rob Swaine headed home a powerfully from a corner. The lead only lasted 3mins though as Welch was judged to have brought down Sam Collins in the box and Higgins blasted home the penalty for 1-1.

With Bromley losing the midfield, it was Concord who finished the half on top.

The second half began with Bromley looking more confident, but the visitors had the best early chance when Higgins broke clear only to be first denied by Welch and then chip the rebound over the bar. Rangers continued to look dangerous and took the lead on 55 minutes when Higgins hit a sweet effort across the area and into the far corner to make it 1-2.Bromley v Concord EB4

Mark Goldberg made two changes almost immediately and initially there was an improvement with Swaine heading just wide. James White headed just over for Concord and Collins forced a great save from Welch as Bromley looked rattled at the back more than at any other time at home this season.

Late on The Ravens had one final spell with Swaine again just off target with a header, but in the end there was not enough end product to their possession and too often they lacked shape and composure when on the attack.Bromley v Concord EB5

The test will now be how Mark Goldberg’s side bounce back from this defeat when they travel to Bath City on Saturday.
