Injury & suspension hit Bromley suffered only their third home defeat of the season on a frustrating evening at Hayes Lane losing to old rival Boreham Wood thanks to two goals in the first ten minutes.
Wood started the game on top, sensing an opportunity to capitalise on a makeshift Ravens side they pressed early on with Ricky Shakes going close once before his second effort hit the post and was converted on the rebound by Luke Howell.
With Bromley totally on the back foot Boreham Wood went two up on 10 minutes when Lee Minshull was caught out of position by a clever through ball and Howell coolly slotted the ball past a stranded Chris Kettings from twenty yards out.
After a flat start Bromley finally sparked into life half way through the first period with Moses Emmanuel shooting wide from distance and Brendan Kiernan firing over from an Ugo Udoji long throw.
Joe Anderson had a free kick tipped away by James Russell after Emmanuel was fouled right on the edge of the box, before finally The Ravens got a break through on 41 minutes.
Out of virtually nothing Emmanuel made space for himself just outside the box and curled in a superb effort just inside the far post for 1-2 at the break.
Bromley started the second half well with Emmanuel going close early on and having a second effort deflected wide.
From the resulting Reece Prestedge corner Rob Swaine headed narrowly wide and Jack Holland had an effort saved by Russell.
A series of corners saw the visitors hold out well and once the hour mark came Mark Goldberg’s men ran out of momentum.
A half fit Louis Dennis couldn’t get going and Wood started to create chances of their own again. Mauro Vilhete & Shakes were denied by Kettings and Swaine headed another chance off the line, Connor Clifford hit a free kick just wide and he had another shot saved late on.
The visitors finished the game on top and comfortably saw out time to secure an impressive away win and leave Bromley empty handed.
Mark Goldberg will be hoping that some of his injured players can recover in time for Saturday’s televised game against Altringham and that a hobbling Moses Emmanuel isn’t too badly hurt.
