In a dramatic match at a chilly Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon, Bromley held title challenging Notts County to a draw, conceding an injury timer equaliser, having been awarded two penalties in the first half.
With Michael Cheek, Byron Webster & Charlie Kendall all out injured, manager Andy Woodman shuffled his team into a 5-4-1 formation with Adam Marriott leading the line up front on his own.
The game got off to a lively start on and off the pitch, with a banner pinned up by Bromley fans protesting at the Wrexham ticket allocation being taken down by the stewards behind the goal.
Back on the 3G, Bromley were awarded a penalty when Corey Whitely was fouled in the box. Marriott stepped up to the the spot kick, but his tame effort was comfortably saved by Tiernan Brooks.
County then had a spell of pressure playing towards the Glyn Beverly stand, but The Ravens were given another penalty on 17 minutes when Whitely took the ball round Brooks and was brought down by the keeper who was booked.
After a spell of treatment for The Magpies custodian, Marriott stepped up again and send Brooks the wrong way to make it 1-0.
Notts County rallied again from there, Reice Charles-Cook made a superb one handed save to deny Sam Austin, who went on to have a strong spell of pressure.
Late on in the half Bromley could have had a third penalty when Ryan Stirk dispossessed Brooks and was tripped by the keeper, but Referee Scott Tallis judged the foul to have taken place just outside the area and awarded a free kick, not showing what looked to be a certain second yellow card to Brooks.
Jude Arthurs’ set piece was eventually cleared and The Magpies went on to have the last chance when Adam Chicksen crossed for Aaron Nemane at the back post who diverted the ball back to Austin whose header was saved by Charles-Cook on the line.
The second half was basically defence v attack with Notts County dominating, sub Connor Evans headed just wide early on, before Nemane had an effort tipped over by Charles-Cook. Chicksen headed another chance wide as The Magpies continued to press, but Bromley defence held out as they camped in their own box, the back four all putting their bodies on the line.
Louis Dennis came on for Marriott to play the lone striker role and he went on to set up Harry Forster who fired over from a tight angle. Billy Bingham then replaced Forster to ad another defensive barrier, but in also invited on continuous Notts pressure.
Dennis was the only outlet for The Ravens and on two occasions he went close when he had one shot saved and then shot over latching on to a great pass from Stirk.
The game was often broken up to allow the physios to administer treatment, which further frustrated the visitors. As the clocked ticked towards 90 minutes Jodi Jones had a shot saved by Charles-Cook, before John Bostock put the rebound over the bar.
In injury rime Arthurs broke clear and was brought down for a free kick, which eventually fell to Dennis who was again denied by Brooks in The Magpies goal.
Then with only three minutes of the allocated additional five left, Macaulay Langstaff latched on to a through ball from Rueben Rodrigues and slipped the ball under Charles-Cook to equalise.
Just before the final whistle the visitors had appeals for their own penalty waved away when Langstaff went down in the area, but they had to settle for a point, which took them back to the top of the table at full time before Wrexham played.
Bromley remain in ninth after this hard fought draw ahead of their home game with York City at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night.
