A profligate display in front of goal by Bromley along with a great display from the visitors Keeper saw them taken to a replay by Ryman League Leiston in this FA trophy tie who gave everything and took their chance when it came.
Bromley started the game well Adam Cunnington was just off target with a header from a Joe Anderson cross and Jacob Marsden saved a Blair Turgott effort. George Porter headed a Dan Johnson cross when well placed before Turgott and Cunnington forced saves from Marsden. Rob Swaine headed a Turgott corner against the bar and Cunnington hooked the rebound just over. Porter missed three more chances, but Leiston then created their best chances when Gareth Heath had a shot saved by Alan Julian and Mat Blake put a shot wide. Then with three minutes to go to half time The Ravens went in front when Turgott’s shot was saved by Marsden, but Porter pounced on the rebound to score from ten yards. The visitors’ Leon Ottley-Gooch had a shot saved by Julian soon after, but Bromley went in one up.
Neil Smith’s side started the second half well with Cunnington and Swaine heading just off target, Porter missed a good chance from close range soon after before Leiston fired a warning shot when Heath;s powerful run from deep was foiled by a well time challenge from Swaine. Porter had a shot from distance well saved by Marsden and The Ravens were made to pat for not taking their chances on 66 minutes when a deep cross from the right was superbly volleyed home by Blake, beating Julian at his near post from ten yards out after ghosting in at the back. Bromley pressed again with Jordan Higgs having a header saved, Swaine headed a free kick wide again and Louis Dennis was denied by Marsden with a fine reaction save at the foot of the post. Porter had another shot saved for a corner and Swaine headed the set piece wide, then in the final minute Cunnington scuffed a good chance over the bar from close range.
