Bromley 1-0 Maidenhead United

Bromley secured a vital win with a hard fought single goal victory over Maidenhead at Hayes Lane on Saturday, which put them six points ahead of the bottom four.

Maidenhead started the game creating the better chances, Max Worsfold had a shot deflected wide and Josh Kelly forced a save from David Gregory. Kelly was again denied by Gregory soon after when one on one from a tight angle and the home defence then scrambled the ball clear after Ayo Obileye saw his hooked effort cleared off the line.

Adrian Clifton was denied by Gregory as The Magpies continued to press before Bromley had their first chance when Frankie Raymond crossed for Jake Goodman who glanced his header just wide. Alfie Kilgour was booked for a late challenge on Luke Coulson as things started to get a little heated and with The Ravens looking stronger Raymond crossed again for Goodman who headed past the far post.

Obileye had a header saved and Clifton fired over for the Magpies, before Bromley broke the deadlock on 41 minutes. A Frankie Sutherland free kick found Richard Brindley who crossed for Jack Holland who coolly slotted the the ball home from six yards out to make it 1-0. With The Ravens on top, Sutherland hit a curling effort from range which Carl Pentney tipped wide. Then just on the half time whistle Worsfold was booked for a high challenge on Holland, the second of five bookings for the visitors.

The second half saw Raymond sent in a free kick that was headed clear over the bar by Clifton. The lively Adam Mekki was on the end of two heavy challenged that both saw the perpetrators booked before the Bromley winger was booked himself for a revenge tackle on Alan Massey.

Coulson had a shot saved by Pentney, before Maidenhead had a strong spell of play. Reece Cole had two powerful efforts saved by Gregory and Obileye headed a Rene Steer cross wide, but despite the pressure Bromley held out with Neil Smith bringing on Roger Johnson and Marc-Anthony Okoye to shore things up at the back and they then kept the ball well for the last few minutes to run the clock down.

The Ravens now travel to Sutton on Boxing Day and Havant on the 29 December before returning to Hayes Lane to face Sutton again on New Years night.
