Bromley just edged a cagey hard fought game with Macclesfield thanks to a single Ben May goal, securing a win that saw The Ravens move up to thirteenth place in their debut National League season.
The game began in lively fashion with both sides enjoying spells of pressure. Macclesfield went close early on when Danny Whitehead was denied a shot on goal by a great Jack Holland tackle, while Louis Dennis and Paul Rodgers went close for Bromley.
Alex Wall had two well struck efforts saved by visiting keeper Shwan Jalal and at the other end Alan Julian made a fine double save from Tony Diagne and Kristain Dennis.
Macc’s Dennis was thwarted again by a great Rob Swaine challenge as he cut in from the right to shoot.
Brad Goldberg had an effort saved by Jalal ans Wall blazed a good chance over, before late in the half Macc had a strong spell with Whitehead and Danny Rowe both going close.
The second half began quietly with Diagne’s long range effort the only chance of note until around the hour mark when Goldberg curled a 20 yarder narrowly over.
After a triple substitution from Mark Goldberg Bromley sparked into life. Moses Emmanuel set up Louis Dennis who fired over, Ali Fuseini set up Emmanuel who shot wide and then on 75 minutes the break through came.
Emmanuel and Goldberg combined to play in Holland who sent in a great cross for Ben May to volley home on the turn from ten yards.
Late on Macc rallied, Danny Whitaker had two efforts saved and Dennis put a chance in the side netting, but The Ravens held out and could have doubled the lead when Fuseini played a perfect pass to Louis Dennis but his shot was saved by Jalal.
In many ways this was just as significant a win the last weeks victory over Gateshead and it feels like Bromley have come of age at their new level.
Next up is a tricky away game at Boreham Wood on Tuesday night.
