Bromley picked up a hard fought three points against their old foes Boreham Wood, thanks to a sublime Dave Martin goal late in the first half and a superb penalty save from Alan Julian in the second.
The game got off to an open start with both sides creating half chances, Tobi Sho-Silva set up George Porter whose shot was blocked for a corner, while at the other end Rob Swaine made a vital goal saving tackle from Morgan Ferrier.
Bromley had a good spell of pressure as the half went on, Sho-Silva had a header saved by Grant Smith, but Wood also went close when Ferrier’s powerful drive was well saved by Alan Julian.
As The Ravens pressure continued they finally got the break through on 42 minutes when Sho-Silva did well to keep the ball in after knocking it past the keeper and set up Dan Johnson to put over a great pass to Dave Martin who curled in a beautiful goal past Smith from the edge of the box.
Just before the break Joe Anderson sent on a great corner for Jack Holland who headed the ball just over the bar.
The second half saw the visitors rally and have the best of things, Anthony Jefferey and Ferrier both had efforts saved by Julian early on and on the next attack Wood won a penalty.
Angelo Balanta charged into the box and was too quick for Holland who tripped him for a clear spot kick. Connor Clifford stepped up to take the penalty, but his well struck shot was pushed on to the bar by Julian’s strong right arm and the ball bounced out to safety.
Bromley rarely broke out of defence in the half, tirelessly working on the back foot defending their slender lead.
As Boreham Wood continued to dominate Jamie Lucas had two shots across goal that just went wide and Mark Ricketts put another chance off target, but The Ravens stood strong and when they cleared one final big ball into the box away to safety the Referee’s whistle signalled a well earned three points taking Neil Smith’s side up to fifteenth in the table.
