Bromley suffered their first defeat in six games on Saturday afternoon as they conceded a goal in each half to relegation threatened York City at Hayes Lane.
Andy Woodman gave a debut to loan keeper Lewis Thomas and brought back Josh Passley and Bes Topalloj as wing backs from Wednesday night’s win at Wealdstone.
The visitors started the game brightly and threatened down the right with their pacey attack, but they were often caught offside.
Dipo Akinyemi fired wide after a strong run into the box and Bromley suffered a blow when Deji Elerewe had to go off injured soon after.
The Ravens rallied from there though, Louis Dennis making his 250 appearance for Bromley fired wide and Kermal Grant headed a Josh Passley corner wide.
The Ravens were happy to let York play out from the back and wait for a mistake, but when they did get forward they caused Andy Woodman’s team problems.
Just after the half hour mark, City broke clear again and Akinyemi saw his shot save by Thomas, but as Bromley attempted to clear Marvin Armstrong scrambled the ball over the line to give York the lead.
The Ravens pressed to get back into things with Callum Reynolds having a hooked effort saved from a corner and Grant also being denied by Rory Watson to keep the visitors in front.
The second half saw York start on top, Akinyemi going close before Bromley responded as Dennis set up Corey Whilely who shot over.
Andy Woodman changed the shape of the team around the hour mark switching to 4-4-2 and they had long spells of ball possession. Michael Cheek wqs denied by Watson low down at his left hand post, Olufela Olomola had a shot blocked, before Kido Taylor- Hart and Ashley Charles were also off target.
York still posed problems on the break and on one of those they struck the killer blow. Watson sent a long ball up to Akinyemi who held off Webster before lobbing Thomas from 25 yards to make it 0-2.
Taylor-Hart went close one more time, but in the end Bromley just didn’t have enough to get anything from the game.
Results elsewhere went Bromley’s way again and they remain third, four points clear of Solihull Moors ahead of the Good Friday trip to Dorking Wanderers.
