Bromley took on a Spurs U21 team in an entertaining friendly at Hayes Lane on Wednesday night, with the Premier League youngsters coming out on top thanks to a goal in either half from Romaine Mundle.

The Ravens started on top with Louis Dennis crossing for Adam Marriott whose header was saved by Josh Keeley. With Bromley on top and putting the keeper under pressure, Charlie Nicholas headed wide from a corner before Spurs settled into the game.

Callum Tracey Cesay had a shot saved low down To the right by the Bromley trialist keeper and he also made another stop from Nile John. Kion Etete fired over from inside the area as Spurs pressed before The Ravens had their best chance when Harry Forster crossed for Marcus Sablier who stabbed the ball just wide at the far post.

Ten minutes before half time Spurs took the lead when Romaine Mundle latched on to a long ball and showed great control on the edge of the box before drilling the ball into the net for 0-1.

Mundle went close again soon after, while at the other end Trialist No7 set up Nichols who drove over from range and James Vennings also shot over following good build up play.

Mass changes at half time saw the second half start slowly, but after ten minutes Spurs were awarded a penalty when Mundle was brought down in the box and he got up to covert the spot kick for 0-2.

Bromley rallied from there and George Alexander could have pulled one back when Keeley slipped while receiving a back pass, but the striker failed to make a connection with the ball.

Chris Bush was booked for a foul on Jeremie Mukendi, before a strong a spell from Bromley saw Reece Hannam have a shot saved, followed by a series of corners, but Spurs held out.

Late on Bush received a second yellow for another foul on Mukendi and was sent off with The Ravens playing the final five minutes with ten men.

This was a good workout for Andy Woodman’s team, who were missing Byron Webster and Michael Cheek against a very skilful, organised side who were superb on the ball.

Next up for The Ravens is a trip to Sutton Utd on Saturday.
