Bromley suffered their first league defeat in two months at the hands of promotion chasing Aldershot at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night.
The Shots who despite being down to ten men for over half the game were far too organised for The Ravens to beak them down and scored two fine goals.
Lining up 4-5-1 with Louis Dennis as a lone striker Bromley started brightly, with Luke Wanadio winning the ball in midfield before running down the wing and sending in a powerful shot which Lewis Ward tipped round the post for a corner.
From the resulting corner The Ravens had a shout for a penalty turned down and somewhat surprisingly Adam Mekki was booked for diving.
As the home side continued to press Dan Johnson had a header saved from a corner before Aldershot struck on the break. James Rowe had a shot saved before The Shots took the lead on 28 minutes when a slick passing move up field saw Bernard Mensah receive the ball out wide and sent a superb curling effort over David Gregory and into the far corner of the net.
The game became increasingly bad tempered as the half went on with Aldershot players crowding the Referee after every decision.
Just before the break Jake Gallagher was sent off for dissent after a late tackle in midfield lead to another bout of pushing and shoving.
Bromley started the second half pressing for an equaliser, Dennis fired wide and Mekki shot over early on before Mekki had to go off injured following a heavy foul from Kodi Foster.
The Ravens continued to press, but were continually foiled by the well drilled Aldershot off side trap and then at the mid-point of the half they struck on the break to make it 2-0.
A mistake by Jordan Higgs let in Matt McClure who sent in the perfect cross for Scott Rendall who slotted the ball home from close range.
Neil Smith’s side carried on looking for a way through but things just wouldn’t fall their way. Jack Holland headed wide from a corner and Dennis had a curling effort from range well saved by Ward.
Another frantic spell of pressure followed, but The Shots held out and to make things worse for Bromley, Higgs was then sent off in injury time for a very harsh second yellow card.
The Ravens now have to pick themselves up and prepare to entertain Dover Athletic on Saturday.
