In a game high on intensity and effort, but low on quality, Bromley slipped to another home defeat as Tranmere ran out winners by a single goal in a game they dominated for long spells, but ended hanging on for the win.
From the kick off the visitors pushed Bromley back into their own half with Adam Mekki going close from a free kick and Lois Maynard having a goal bound effort blocked by Jack Holland.
Maynard was involved in the next major incident when he was booked for headbutting Ben Chorley off the ball and only minutes later was lucky to escape with a warning when going in late on Lee Minshull.
As Rovers continued to press Jay Harris hit a superb volley from distance which Alan Julian brilliantly pushed away for a corner. From the resulting set piece Tranmere went close again with a scramble in the six yard bow, but the home defence managed to get the ball away.
James Norwood was the next to go close for Rovers with a powerful header which saw Julian once again make a great save. After half an hour Bromley finally managed a shot on goal when Moses Emmanuel turned sharply in the box and hit a low powerful effort which just skidded wide of the far post.
Soon after Emmanuel created another chance as he ran through the visitors defence, but had his shot saved by Scott Davies low down the keepers left. Late on Tranmere had a series of corners which The Ravens managed to keep out and leave the scores tied at the break.
The second half saw Tranmere started on top once again, Maynard & Mekki had efforts saved by Julian, who was rightly named Man of the Match, while Matt Hill fired over.
The pressure finally told on 54 minutes when Mekki set up Lee Vaughn whose fierce cross shot from 25 yards evaded Julian and skipped in off the far post to put Rovers in front.
Mekki fired narrowly over soon after before Bromley finally mustered a response and battled back into the game.
Mark Goldberg brought on two more strikers and with four recognised forwards on the pitch took some attacking initiative.
A Joe Anderson free kick was flicked on by Emmanuel to Sean Francis but he put his header over the bar from close range. A good spell of Ravens pressure saw Alex Wall hit a powerful free kick from distance which Davies did well to gather and Adam Cunnington also had a shot saved with the next attack.
Tranmere did all they could to run the clock down and slow the game to maintain their lead, but late on Bromley nearly pulled level when Emmanuel hit a half volley from the edge of the box which Davies tipped round the post to keep hold of the three points for the team from the Wirral.
Bromley now face Charlton Athletic at home on Tuesday night in the Quarter Final of the Kent Senior Cup before travelling to leaders Cheltenham Town next Saturday looking to pick up from where they left off in the last twenty minutes of this match.
