Despite dominating for long spells Bromley suffered another single goal defeat on Saturday conceding an 87th minute goal to a Chester who prior to this had only won once in eight games.
In swirling wind it was Bromley who started the better, with Neil Smith fielding a very attacking line up and they did all the early pressing.
The closest The Ravens came was when Alan Dunne crossed for Louis Dennis whose header was saved by Alex Lynch. A series of corners followed, but Bromlet found no way through the visitors defence.
As the half went on a number of heavy challenges saw Referee Treleaven show four yellow cards including a shocking foul by Lucas Dawson on Ryan Hall which left the winger needing lengthy treatment.
Blair Turgott’s free kick was saved by Lynch and Tobu Sho-Silva put a chance wide before Chester battled their way back into things.
Dawson went close from distance, Sam Hughes had a goal bound shot cleared by Dunne and Ton Shaw was denied by Ross Flitney. Late on Dennis broke clear on a mazy solo run, but his final effort was deflected for a corner.
The Ravens also started the second half well, Sho-Silva’s shot from a tight angle was cleared off the line by Hughes and he put another chance wide soon after.
Chester then rallied with Elliott Durrell firing wide and Kane Richardo having a shot saved by Flitney after a slip from Joe Anderson.
Bromley then had a very good spell of pressure which saw Turgott fire over, Jack Holland head a free kick wide and Dennis hit a fierce 30 yarder that Lynch did brilliantly to tip over for a corner.
The set piece was scrambled away and Connor Dymond’s shot from outside the box was gathered by Lynch.
Debutant Shane McLoughlin set up Sho-Silva but his half volleyed was again well saved by Lynch.
Then with three minutes left came the only goal of the game when Lynch launched a long ball up field which found Durrell and he was given time and space to send his low drive past Flitney and just inside the left hand post.
Richardo set up James Alabi late on but Flitney saved and right on the whistle Bromley had one final chance when Dennis’ well struck shot from distance saw Lynch deny the home side again.
The defeat leaves Bromley in fourteenth and still in need of another win to be completely safe, with their next game away to league leaders Lincoln City next Saturday.
