Bromley suffered their first home defeat of the season on Tuesday night at the hands of in form Barnet who were just too strong for The Ravens over the 90 minutes.
Lining up 5-3-2 with Omar Bugeil away on international duty, Bromley came under pressure early on with David Gregory making saves from Jack Taylor and Daniel Sweeney, while David Tutonda and Charlee Adams also went close for The Bees.
As the visitors pressed Tutonda was booked for diving, a decision that would later have consequences for the lively winger. The pressure finally paid off for Barnet on 21 minutes when a deep cross from the left was nodded back at the far post for Sweeney to head home unmarked in the six yard box.
Bromley’s first effort on goal fell to Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe who curled an effort over from 20 yards out. The Bees continued to pin Bromley back Taylor had a header saved by Gregory from another cross from the left.
The Ravens closest chance came when George Porter hit a 30 yarder that crashed back off the post, closely followed by a scramble from a Tobi Adebayo-Rowling cross that went off for a corner.
Wes Fonguck hit the post for the visitors before Neil Smith chose to change things by taking off Adebayo-Rowling and switching to 4-4-2 just before half time.
The second half got off to a quiet start before Cheye Alexander put in a dipping corner that Gregory had to palm over the bar. Tutonda crossed for Taylor who shot wide, before Jack Goddard had a shot for the home side that Mark Cousins saved well.
Barnet continued to have the better of things with Taylor having three chances, hitting the underside of the bar, firing over and then forcing another save from Gregory.
Bromley could find no way through The Bees defence and went more and more direct as they looked for a breakthrough, pushing Roger Johnson up as a striker, but nothing fell for them.
Tutonda was sent off for a second yellow card after a foul on Porter, but despite going down to ten men Barnet never really looked in trouble and were always dangerous on the break.
In injury time Byron Harrison was denied by Gregory who was the only reason that the score stayed at 1-0.
The Ravens slipped to sixteenth in The National League and now travel to Aldershot on Saturday.
