Bromley and Maidenhead battled out scoreless draw at Hayes Lane on Easter Monday with both goalkeepers making vital saves in an end to end game.

Alan Devonshire’s Maidenhead started the game looking the more positive, but it was Bromley who had the first real chance when Jude Arthurs crossed for Michael Cheek whose header was brilliantly saved by Nathan Ashmore on the line.

The Magpies then also had an effort on goal soon after with Ellery Balcombe making an excellent one handed save from a Kane Ferdinand header.

As the game opened up Louis Dennis had a deflected shot on to the post, while at the other end Josh Kelly fired narrowly wide across goal from just inside the area.

The Ravens then suffered a real blow when Dennis was upended by Ryheem Sheckleford on the bye line and he had to be substituted with what looked a serious shoulder injury, the Maidenhead left back booked for the challenge.

Nathan Blissett forced another good save from Balcombe in the home goal, before Cheek shot wide as he latched on to a Connor Parsons pass.

Late in the half Blissett had a goal ruled out for offside for the visitors, while Bromley finished strongly with Ashmore making a brave save at the feet of Cheek.

There was still time for both teams having shouts for penalties, but Arthurs was booked for diving when going past Ashmore and then Kelly was also denied at the other end when he went down just inside the box.

Bromley started the second half on top, Arthurs crossed for Corey Whitely whose shot deflected wide and Cheek blazed over from close range after Ashmore had spilled a cross, following good work by Parsons, James Vennings and Whitely down the left. Both teams had spells of pressure, but they lacked the final ball and the midfield often resembles a game of pin ball, with no player taking more than one touch.

Jack Cawley had a header saved from a Billy Bingham free kick before The Magpies had a good spell. Chris Bush made a superb saving tackle to deny Kelly after Emile Acquah had played him in and from the corner Shawn McCoulsky headed against the bar and then Charlee Adams fired over from range following more good work by McCoulsky.

Both teams pressed for a winner late on, Ashmore saved at the feet of James Alabi and Whitely had a shot deflected over, but from the corner Maidenhead broke up field and with McCoulsky seemingly clear on goal Cawley did brilliantly make up the ground and toe the ball away to safety for a corner.

The Ravens defended the following corners and the game drifted to a finish with a hard earned point for either team.
