Bromley and Dartford played out a scoreless draw on a baking hot afternoon at Hayes Lane on Saturday, that saw mass line up changes on both sides and lots of trialists get a run out.

The game had the look of a Turin derby with the home side in a burgundy red number and Dartford in black and white stripes, Bromley manager Andy Woodman signed Reece Hannam on loan for the season in the week and the Crystal Palace left back had a very good debut for The Ravens playing at wing back, with a trialist at right wing back also having an impressive first half.

The Ravens had the first chance of the match when Hannam crossed for Mason Bloomfield, but Darts keeper Wilks eventually grabbed hold of the ball after a scramble in the six yard box.

Billy Bingham went close from long range as Bromley had strong spell of pressure, but Dartford held out. Hannam went close after the water break winning the ball in midfield and shooting from 25 yard out, but his effort went wide of the post.

Former Raven Kristian Campbell had Dartford’s best chance when he intercepted a poor pass across the pitch and broke clear, but his dinked effort was saved by the trialist keeper in the home goal.

As the half closed The Darts had a good spell with Luke Coulson playing well for them in midfield having left Bromley this summer, Rodari fired wide and Curruthers shot over the bar, but the half ended goalless.

The second half saw mass changes on both sides, Bromley started well with George Alexander having a header tipped over, but they lost their way after with more substitutions soon after.

Wynter went close for Dartford from range, trialist No.8 had a header saved and No14 fired wide from the edge of the area.

Former Bromley striker Alex Wall looked a threat for the visitors, before having to go off injured. The Ravens settled back into the game, but the heat made sure the game was played at a slow pace, Marcus Sablier going closest when he shot wide from 20 yards out after latching on to a corner.

Both sides will have got something out of the game, but it won’t live long in the memory of the spectators.

Next up for Bromley is a home game with Spurs Under 23s on Tuesday night.
