The 2015 race calendar for Brands Hatch is now confirmed, with over 40 race events during the year and action at the Kent circuit almost every weekend from March until November.
Tickets are now on sale for many events, starting at just £10, with free entry for children aged under 13.
The UK’s biggest motor racing series, the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship will visit Brands Hatch on three occasions this season, as local hero Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne sets his sights on a record-smashing fifth title.
He’ll face stiff opposition from triple champion Ryuichi Kiyonari, who nearly stole the championship last year, plus charismatic Aussie Josh Brookes and the returning Michael Laverty from MotoGP amongst the 36 riders already confirmed.
Truly world-class, this year’s BSB will feature riders from eleven nations, including Honda’s Jenny Tinmouth, the championship’s first female works rider. The first visit is to the Indy circuit in April, followed by the traditional summer party on the legendary Grand Prix circuit in July and the Showdown title-decider, also on the GP circuit, in October.
Also massively popular, the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship holds its opening and closing rounds at Brands Hatch, in April and October respectively. The BTCC has a new look to its line-up this year: triple World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx returns to the BTCC and will race for the title-winning WSR BMW 1-Series team alongside former MG ace Sam Tordoff.
2013 champion Andrew Jordan now heads up the MG squad, whilst Jason Plato and Colin Turkington have yet to reveal their plans for the season, and Honda Racing will unveil a brand new car for Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden.
The Blancpain GT Series brings International GT racing to Brands Hatch in May. The series made its debut at the Kent venue last year, with Alex Zanardi returning to the scene of his double gold medal success at the 2012 Paralympic Games and storming to fifth place from the back of the grid in his BMW. Zanardi is expected to return, and will face a field of exotic supercars including Audis, Bentleys, BMWs, Ferraris, McLarens and more.
There’s another helping of GT action in August with a visit from the Avon Tyres British GT Championship. Featuring multi-million pound grids, close racing and drama-filled pitstops, this championship rivals the BTCC in the affections of petrolheads. The round will be co-headlined by the MSV-run BRDC Formula 4 Championship, a vital step for young drivers on the route to Formula 1.
Thrills and spills are guaranteed in the British Truck Racing Championship, which will roar into Brands Hatch in April and November. Truck racing events are a firm favourite with families and feature a packed programme of action on and off-track, with the November season finale including a major fireworks display.
Several festivals will take place at Brands Hatch this year, with the American SpeedFest III in June headlined by the breathtaking NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, the only NASCAR series sanctioned outside of the USA, together with a feast of Stateside racing, displays and food. The Mini Festival returns in June, whilst the Kent circuit celebrates Lotus in August and the Aston Martin Owners’ Club’s 80th anniversary in September.
Historic racing fans will love the Masters Historic Festival in May, featuring Formula One cars from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and the Super Touring Car Championship for 80s and 90s BTCC cars, plus much more. At the other end of the spectrum, TunerFest South will celebrate highly modified machinery with the spectacular Time Attack Championship, and a huge collection of great cars and tuning brands. Visitors can also join in the action by tackling a gymkhana sprint circuit or testing their engine on a rolling road.
