After a one year break summer rallying returns to Brands Hatch this Sunday when the Brands Hatch summer stages returns to the North Kent track.
Over 80 cars have entered to race in eight stages covering 60 miles on parts of the track which have never been used before for the competition, the competitive stages for the day will use the vehicle tunnel, circuit, paddock, pit lane as well as a purpose built rally stage.
Kent Car Clubs will be well represented at the meet with Bexley Light Car Club having Jesse Crosse, Graham Sansom and Geoffrey Martin all racing for the club in Ford Escorts whilst Kevin Blackford will participate in a 1275 Clubman Mini; two drivers from the Maidstone and Mid- Kent Motor Club, Christopher Newington and Vince Sillett are also expected to take part.
The Hutton Kitchens Brands Hatch Summer Stages will be only the second rally of the year at Brands Hatch after January’s MGJ Engineering Brands Hatch Winter Stages and Dean Thomas, who was victorious earlier in the year, is expected to be among the challengers this Sunday.
Thomas will need to defend his crown against a series of Ford Escorts, including rally-bred Mexicos and other vintage Mk1 and Mk2 variants. Other iconic rallying vehicles, including an MG Metro 6R4, and later WRC-esque Subaru Imprezas and Mitsubishis, are among the huge list of participating classic cars.
Tickets for the event can be paid for upon entry and cost £14 with children under 13being able to experience the even for free and the first car is expected to get the day underway at 9:50 to begin an enjoyable day of racing.
