The 2013 Brands Hatch season will end in spectacular style over the weekend with a busy schedule that includes a championship-deciding race!
The BRDC Formula 4 Winter Series finale headlines the event, with four races over the course of the weekend in the championship for aspiring Formula 1 drivers. The previous round at Snetterton provided two different race winners, and Matthew Graham is just two points ahead of Jake Cook, with Falco Wauer also in contention for the title at Brands Hatch.
There are several more drivers heading to Kent with a shot of the title, including Will Palmer, the youngest son of circuit owner Jonathan, and Pietro Fittipaldi, grandson of F1 World Champion Emerson. Pietro won a race at Brands Hatch in the F4 championship’s main season last summer and will head to the circuit full of confidence, whilst Will is set to build upon a podium finish from his maiden appearance in the series at Snetterton.
The weekend also features a wealth of sportscar and GT race action, including the Britcar series, which takes centre stage on the Saturday. Two ‘winter warmer’ races will precede the annual ‘into the night’ race, which starts late on Saturday afternoon. A qualifying session at dusk is followed by a 90-minute encounter under the stars. Blazing headlights, glowing brake discs and flaming exhausts will provide a Le Mans-style atmosphere and one of the most memorable moments of the season.
The meeting includes sportscar action from the Sports, Sports Racing and GT race, which will be staged over both days. Sunday also includes a unique end-of-season fixture titled the ‘West Kingsdown Trophy’, which also incorporates a team of Brands Hatch regulars taking on an ‘away’ squad from Wiltshire’s Castle Combe circuit!
