The MCE British Superbike Championship roars back into Brands Hatch for the first time this season this weekend and it promises to be a high octane visit. 
Local hero Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne will be looking to return to the top step of the podium aboard his Paul Bird Motorsport Ducati.
There will also be local interest in the BSB with Howie Mainwaring-Smart, as well as Jake Dixon and cousin Ryan in the Supersport class, along with Ross Twyman. Plus keep an eye out for several local talents in the Superstock 1000, 600 and the Sidecar series.
The BSB championship has already produced some spectacular racing this season with four different winners from the opening four races – but four-time champion Byrne is yet to climb on the top step of the podium, which is something he aims to change in front of his home crowd this weekend.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, Byrne said: “We have been working hard and we have been chipping away and hopefully we can get to Brands Hatch this weekend, my home round, and really come out fighting as I don’t want it to be long before we are back at the top again and if it can be at Brands Hatch that would make the first win with the Be Wiser Ducati all the more sweeter!”
Byrne lines up against some fierce rivals including World Superbike title runner-up Leon Haslam, former MotoGP race winner John Hopkins and the young contender, 23-year-old Danny Buchan from nearby Essex, as he targets a podium return.
The Championship features an international line-up including riders from America, Australia and Japan lining up against some of the UK’s biggest stars with an incredible support class line-up featuring eight different classes, 15 races and a spectacular 284 laps including the Dickies British Supersport Championship and the sensational British Sidecar Championship.
The event features a chance to get closer to the stars of the championship with a free of charge pitwalk on Sunday’s main race day and a huge trade zone plus off track entertainment for all the family.
