Kent’s very own Brands Hatch features in a new Ron Howard movie called Rush that is due for release shortly.
The trailer has been released and features footage shot at Brands Hatch and Snetterton two of MSV’s circuits last year.
The film which is due for release at cinemas in September centres around the rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda, with focus on the 1976 season.
In 1976 the British Grand Prix was held at Brands Hatch and was the scene of one of their infamous show downs at the start of the race, which led to Hunt being banned from the restart, however a fan protest saw him reinstated.
Much of the film was shot around Brands Hatch and Snetterton with local racing fans taking up parts as extras. Brands also doubled as many of the other races venues that were part of that 1976 season.
It is not often that one of your counties race tracks plays a prominent role in a movie directed by an Oscar winning director such as Ron Howard. September won’t come round quick enough for many motor racing fans.
