The Invicta Dynamos kept up their league title push with a vital 8-5 victory at Bracknell Hornets on Saturday night.Callum Fowler8

Kevin Parrish’s side made it the perfect start to a weekend where they must win twice to keep up their title aspirations by winning in Berkshire.

The night started with the Dynamos missing just Peter Beerling and finished with them returning to Kent with the two vital points.

It was a game that was to fluctuate back and forth with the home side in no mood to lie down and roll over, but it was the Dynamos that were to score first in the fifth minute with Callum Fowler bagging his first of the night.

The lead was to last just 23 seconds though as the home side fighting back, but the Dynamos showed theur last once again in the ninth minute when they made the most of a powerplay to go in front thanks to Andy Smith.

Yet again Bracknell responded to make it 2-2 in the 15th minute, but a minute later it was 3-2 to the Dynamos when Danny Hammond scored the last goal of the opening period.

The second period was much like the first as it went to and fro, with the Dynamos going 4-2 up despite being shorthanded in the 28th minute with Hammond picking up a 2+10 minute penalty for checking from behind and roughing as Fowler grabbed his second of the night.

Bracknell were to pull level by the 37th minute to put the game back on a knife edge, but with some skill Smith scored his second of the night with 100 seconds left in the period to put the Dynamos 5-4 up going into the last.

Thankfully, the resistance was finally broken in the final period as the Dynamos managed to give themselves some breathing space with Fowler grabbing his hat-trick on 45 minutes and Juraj Huska got himself on the scoresheet six minutes later to make it 7-4.

The hosts were to pull one back, but with time running out they pulled their netminder and that gave Marek Nahlik the time and space to make it 8-5 in the final minute.

These vital two points, combined with Wightlink Raiders losing 6-4 at London Raiders sees the Dynamos climb to second in the NIHL South with the clash of the title chasers come to Kent on Sunday night.

League leaders Chelmsford Chieftains come to Gillingham with a five point lead at the top of the table, so the Dynamos know nothing less than a win will do. Face off is at 5:15pm.
