Manager Mark Bonner has described it as a horrible night after watching his Gillingham side lose 3-0 at home to Bromley on Thuesday evening.
They have won just three league games from the start of October and earned just 10 points from a disappointing 15-game spell.
And Bonner, who saw Elliott Nevitt blast a late penalty over, said: “The first half was horrible.
“Once they scored the third goal it was a dead duck and it turned into a horrible night.
“That team in the first half were that easy to score against and were lacking. Everyone’s flaws have been ruthlessly exposed again.
“The 20 minutes after half time is a little bit more like what I want to see and a team I want to manage on the pitch.
“That needs to be the base level, but we haven’t seen enough of that through the season.
“We have to find a way of getting the best players, the most energetic players and the most athletic players on the pitch together as often as possible.
“Loads of things have to change. It’s a mess at the moment. Morale is low, there’s loads of frustrated people.
“What can we do? We can try to find a consistent team that can play together.”
With many Gillingham fans booing their side off at the full-time whistle and many more having left Priestfield early, Bonner is very much a man under pressure.
Questions have been asked for many weeks now as to whether Bonner is the right man to be in the Priestfield hot seat and with both Neil Harris and Adam Barrett in the stands on Thursday night, there are no shortage of possible options to replace him should owner Brad Galinson decide the former Cambridge United man’s time is up.
With a trip to Chesterfield to come on Sunday afternoon, Gillingham need a win and fast, no matter who is in charge.
Sitting seven points off the play-off places, all isn’t lost for The Gills, but the January transfer window needs to be utilised well and Bromley showed just how a side with passion can win any game of football.
