Bognor Regis Town 2-4 Folkestone Invicta

Invicta produced a morale-boosting and fully deserved 4-2 win away to previously unbeaten Bognor to begin their climb back up the Bostik Premier Division table on Tuesday night.

The early goal can be so important in games and Ade Yusuff pounced to open the scoring for the visitors with just four minutes on the clock.

Rocks’ stalwart Jimmy Muitt levelled midway through the opening half but it was 3-1 by the break thanks to Kane Rowland and a second goal from last season’s leading scorer Yusuff in the space of three minutes towards the end of the first period.

Folkestone needed to consolidate their lead and they did just that in emphatic fashion when a backpass was handled by keeper Dan Lincoln and the free-kick was touched back for the again excellent Sam Hasler to smash the ball into the back of the net 18 minutes from time.

Bognor – third in the table, hit back again through substitute Tommy Scutt as the game moved into its final ten minutes, but despite the home side’s pressure Invicta held on for what is surely their result of the season so far.

From here they move onto to Lewes on Saturday, in a game which on tonight’s evidence is hardly likely to finish goalless – The Rooks having thrashed Invicta recent conquerors AFC Hornchurch 5-1 in Essex!
