Blog: Herbalife – does it work?

The past month has seen me undertake a change in lifestyle and I’ve got to thank Herbalife for helping me get there.Herbalife me2

I set out at the start of January with my eyes wide open and a sceptical mind as to what would happen, but the results are pretty clear to me.

Without really having drastically changed my lifestyle, I have not only lost a bit of weight, which I probably needed to do, but more importantly I have reduced my body fat percentage and feel a lot healthier for it.

The results would probably have been a lot better had it not been for a biscuit or two here and there, and my weakness for the odd treat has without doubt skewed the results somewhat.

For those of you familiar with what I have been doing, you’ll know I am not the most physically active person you’ll ever meet. My lifestyle, like a lot of people I know, generally sees me sitting down for far too long and not taking part in enough physical exercise from one week to the next.

The whole Herbalife experiment for me wasn’t about shifting vast amounts of weight as I wasn’t that overweight. My biggest problem, like a lot of people nearing forty, is that I was starting to develop a bit of the old middle aged spread and I wanted to do something about it.

Having a shake for breakfast and lunch throughout the past month along with taking my fibre and herb, and vitamin pills has seen me lose 5lbs, but more importantly reduce my body fat percentage by over 2%.

Some might say the results aren’t that alarming, but I guess that was probably down to me raiding the fridge and the biscuit tin a wee bit too much!

Here are my overall results for the past month:

Weight:   162.2 lbs – 159 lbs – 157.2 lbs
Body fat:   20.9% – 19% – 18.7%
Water:   53.9% – 52.0% – 55%
Hips:   98cm – 98cm – 97cm
Waist:   92cm – 89cm – 89cm
Thigh:   56cm – 56cm – 56cm

The challenge for me now is clear. I am going to keep going with Herbalife and see if I can get my body fat percentage down just that bit more. I’m not that fussed about losing any more weight, so I will drop to just the one shake a day and see if I can just eat that bit healthier whilst trying to cut out all the things that are bad for me.

I would be lying if I didn’t admit to wanting to have a body like Daniel Craig, but I have to realistic that I will have to settle for something between what I’m like now and the man in the trunks.

I was told that I need to drink a lot more water and three litres a day has to be my target. Prior to this trial I would probably do that in cups of tea alone, but I’m of the belief now that’s not quite the same!

I’d urge anyone that’s as sceptical as I was about Herbalife to give it a try. I’m not being paid to say this and in no way do I benefit if Herbalife succeed or fail.

What have you got to lose except a few pounds?
