It will be a poignant day on Saturday, as Blackpool pay their respects to Jimmy Armfield who died this week at the age of 82.
Armfield was a legendary figure in the English game, and spent his entire career with Blackpool.
He made 627 appearances for the Tangerines during his 17 year stay at Bloomfield Road.
Blackpool fans have called off their protest against the Oyston family for the day, and will join in with the tributes.
The Seasiders are in poor form. They have won only one of their last twelve league games, and have failed to win any of their last eight games at Bloomfield Road. They are now hovering just three points above the drop zone.
In contrast, Charlton have found their form again, and will be looking for a fourth consecutive win.
Karl Robinson will have Patrick Bauer available again, and new boy – Michal Zyro – is set to make his bow.
Robinson has hinted that he may rest a player or two, with another missing the trip through ‘personal concerns’.
It remains to be seen whether the rested player, and the one with personal concerns, are the same player or two seperate ones.
It is a conundrum for Robinson. He will want to keep the winning momentum going, but has to think of the long term benefits of giving a break to a tired player.
Josh Magennis looks to be the player most in need of a rest. The affable Irishman has been out of salts recently.
He last scored against MK Dons in the middle of November, and his goal drought has now gone on for 14 games.
Zyro’s arrival gives the manager the opportunity to give Magennis a much needed breather.
Ezri Konsa has been linked with a move to Brighton recently, and Robinson may be concerned about the player’s focus.
Konsa did train with the rest of the squad as usual on Thursday though, and is expected to be involved at Bloomfield Road.
The Addicks may look something like this:
Amos; Solly, Konsa, Bauer, Dasilva; Kashi, Aribo, Fosu, Mavididi, Marshall; Zyro.
Subs: Phillips, Dijksteel, Lennon, Jackson, Forster-Caskey, Reeves, Ahearne-Grant.
The referee will be Carl Boyeson from East Yorkshire.
It will be a day of high emotion at Bloomfield Road, but Charlton need to keep their recent run going to cement a play-off place.
Robinson will be confident that his team will come away with all three points.
