Tom Eaves bagged a brace as Gillingham ended their League One campaign on a high with victory over Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.
Brandon Hanlan’s ninth goal of the campaign gave the Kent side an early advantage and Gills top scorer Eaves then netted twice before half-time.
The Gills took the lead inside seven minutes when Hanlan worked his way into the Seasiders’ box and produced a delightful finish past Christoffer Mafoumbi.
Blackpool striker Armand Gnanduillet’s persistence in the 25th minute was nearly rewarded but Barry Fuller blocked his effort on the line.
Gillingham doubled their lead on the half-hour though Eaves’ marvellous effort into the bottom corner which flew past Mafoumbi.
Eaves grabbed his second six minutes from the break with a close-range finish after latching onto Bradley Garmston’s cross.
Blackpool could have grabbed one back after Tomas Holy spilled Harry Pritchard’s shot but Nathan Delfouneso failed to finish, while Jordan Thompson’s chance shortly after was cleared off the line.
Gillingham finish 13th in the table, with Blackpool in tenth.
