It has been a difficult season for both clubs but the appointment of a new manager had the desired result for the duo.
Former Charlton defender, Gary Rowett, returned to another of his former clubs after doing a fine job at Burton.
Following a turbulent opening few games, Guy Luzon transformed the Addicks into a far more cohesive and attacking unit.
With little but pride to play for, predicting Luzon’s team will not be easy. The head coach is likely to field his strongest side in the season’s finale against Bournemouth at The Valley next week, so if he does want to give any fringe players a run out, he will probably do so in this game.
Stephen Hendson will be in goal but there could be a change or two in the back-four.
Chris Solly is likely to start at right-back, and if Luzon plans to play Rhoys Wiggins against former club Bournemouth, Morgan Fox may get the nod for this game.
Roger Johnson was given a breather last week but is a Birmingham old boy and could return at St Andrews. Joe Gomez will probably be his partner.
Favourite for the Player Of The Year trophy, Johann Gudmundsson tranformed the Leeds game when he entered the fray at the start of the second half. The Icelandic international is likely to start this time.
Jordan Cousins was another who was rested against Leeds, albeit he came on as an early substitute when Alou Diarra was injured. Cousins is likely to be in tandem with Yoni Buyens in midfield.
The wide left berth will be occupied by either Frederic Bulot or Chris Eagles.
Tony Watt and Igor Vetokele have shown signs of fatigue recently but will probably be the front runners.
Luzon’s team could look something like this:
Henderson; Solly, Gomez, Johnson, Fox; Gudmundsson, Cousins, Buyens, Bulot; Watt, Vetokele.
Subs: Etheridge, Wiggins, Ben Haim, Lennon, Lepoint, Eagles, Church.
The referee will be Jeremy Simpson from Lancashire.
Rowett will be keen to bring the curtain down for the season at St Andrews with a win, but he may have to settle for a share of the spoils.
