Kent ‘Code’ Kestrels continued their successful inaugural Southern Development League [SDL] campaign with an emphatic away win against the Exeter ‘Chris Richards’ Falcons at Somerset Speedway on Friday.
The 25-11 victory saw the Kestrels flying high at Highbridge with no. 1 Bradley Andrews emulating the full maximum he recorded against the same opponents when they met at Central Park in April.
Kent’s Development Manager had to make a late change to the Code Kestrels’ quartet when Alex Spooner was drafted in by the Isle of Wight Warriors to cover for them in their away match at table-topping Belle Vue. Coming in to replace Spooner was Woking-based teenager Jamie Bursill.
Three 5-1s by the dominant Kestrels saw the visitors home with both Anders Rowe and Sandwich-based James Laker unbeaten by an opponent.
The Kestrels who also receive backing by the Crayford Supporters group have a 100% record in the SDL and next face Reading at Eastbourne Speedway on 1st. July.
Kent fans can become familiar with young Bursill on Monday when he competes in the Futurama individual meeting at Central Park which will also feature Chris Watts who rode at number one for the Falcons.
In-form James Laker (second in last week’s GB Youth Championship Round at Rye House) will be one of the main contenders on Monday; as will Alex Spooner. who was second highest scorer for the Isle of Wight in his first ever trip to the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester.
The Futurama 2017 championship is on Monday 19th. June – 6.30pm start time.
