TWHC Mens 1st XI vs Reigate

Reigate 6 – TWHC 2

TWHC Men’s 2nd XI vs Sevenoaks 3rd XI

A squad with some fresh faces departed for Trinity School in Sevenoaks to take on the newly demoted Sevenoaks Mens 3rd XI. TWHC exploded into the game with high intensity and a hunger for success, after the disappointing end to last season. An early short corner allowed Will Graystone to put TWHC inform with a textbook dragflick into the top left hand corner of the goal, screaming past the goalkeepers outstretched stick. A reply from Sevenoaks came right before the break, sending the teams into half time on level pegging. Some vigilant defending from Isaac Bepey, Josh Lord and Ed Willshire kept TWHC in the game in a spell of pressure being piled on my the Sevenoaks team. A well worked play of passes put Mike Bryant through on goal to slide the ball past the keeper, giving TWHC the lead. Sevenoaks came flying out from the restart, as did TWHC, resulting in a very open, end-to-end, game. A momentary lapse in concentration from TWHC allowed Sevenoaks to equalise with not long left of the game. In the final play of the game, Mike Bryant won a short corner from a fantastic piece of skill, drawing the stick tackle. The final whistle blew, meaning that TWHC could play out the short corner before the death of the game. A good, clean injection allowed Will Graystone to receive the ball at the top of the circle. Graystone then passed the ball to his right, to David House, who rocketed the ball past the flailing goalkeeper to give TWHC the win! Great result to start the season. Credit to all the players for fighting right till the death. Final score; TWHC 3 – Sevenoaks 2. Man of the match Isaac Bepey for his resilience in defence!

TWHC Men’s 3rd XI vs Burnt Ash 4th XI

Draw 1-1

A promising start for the 3s with plenty of new players and some fantastic possession hockey. Mat Thewlis finding the finish others couldn’t, whilst it could have been 3 by half time. Tiredness crept in but it took a dubious penalty stroke decision late on to bring things level and James Fry was an inch short of lifting it over the keeper at the other end. Signs of a good season ahead.

TWHC Men’s 4th XI beat Marden russets 4-2, all 4 goals coming from Billy Priestley!!

TWHC Vets XI comfortably won 3-1 in their final pre-season warm up game against Burnt Ash.

Ladies TW 1’s VS Saffron Walden

After a strong training session on Wednesday we felt prepared for our away game against Saffron Walden.  During the first half, TW had dominant possession and despite four short corners the team was unable to convert to an outcome. Saffron Walden had a strong shot-stopping keeper, and Wells were unable to work the ball around her, resulting in 0-0 outcome. Frustratingly TW had many shots on target but failed to score. Nelia Bekker, Jen Hunt and Georgia Whitaker had some strong passages of play upfront and it was unfortunate not to score. Amy Jones sadly became injured in the first half leading to TW only having 11 players. There were some powerful transfers around the back leading to some short upgrades but unfortunately on the day we were unable to convert the opportunities. Man of the match was awarded to Ollie Gerrett for some outstanding versatility on the pitch and for some crucial inceptions and decision making. Next week TW play Canterbury at home.

Tunbridge Wells Ladies 2nd XI  1

Ashford Ladies 1st XI  4

Wells Ladies ended up pointless in their second East League match of the season.  Ashford’s clinical finishing was the difference as the hosts created chances but only converted once when Tilly Johnson volleyed a rebound home.  Keeper Lucy Whitehead even saved a penalty stroke and Lou Richardson was the Player of the Match.

In the Kent League Wells Ladies 3s went down 5-2 to local rivals Sevenoaks with goals from Rosie Redding and Katie Welbourn whilst the Ladies 4s beat New Beccehamians 3-2 with Amber Maywood scoring a hat-trick.
