After showing promise in free practice, TAG Racing’s Jake Hill put in a superb lap to place his Team HARD-run VW CC a storming 5th overall – his best-ever qualifying in his Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship career so far.
Hill set a 58.817 lap time at ‘the home of British Motorsport’ – initially placing the car P4 but being narrowly eclipsed by three-time BTCC Champion Matt Neal’s manufacturer Honda Civic Type R late on in the session.
“The first practice session was wet and really didn’t tell us much, but the second session was much, much better – finishing P3 and having a really good understanding of the car. In qualifying we adjusted the car slightly and it worked a treat – the car was not just quick on a single lap but also on a longer run. Can’t thank the team enough – Kingsley, Dan, Gavin, Ryan, Gary, Alex and of course the main man Tony Gilham. I am so grateful, but I know tomorrow is going to be really tough, it always is” smiled Hill.
“I’m so pleased to be welcoming so many of our awesome guests tomorrow – TAG Racing, ROLEC Racing, Brisky Racing, Danfoss, Ecoflam, AW Supply Services and of course thanks for the support from Sportif Cars, Zynth, Bill Rawles Classic Cars, JEP and to welcome Midhurst Electrical on board for Silverstone. Should be a great day!”
