Benson makes Addicks comeback

The Addicks played a strong Millwall side at the Lions training ground on Tuesday afternoon.

Paul Benson made a welcome return to the fold and opened the scoring in the first half. Benson was replaced by youngster, Adebayo Azeez, who netted twice in the second period to seal a comprehensive 3-0 win.

Lewes trialist, Christian Nanetti, played in the game after his stay with the Addicks was extended to a second week.

Meanwhile, Chris Powell will be pondering over his line-up for Carlisle’s visit on Saturday. Will Solly and Wagstaff return to resume their partnership on the right-hand side? If so, will Morrison’s partnership with Taylor be reinstated or will Cort retain his place? Kermorgant or Hayes to play alongside Wright-Phillips? The manager has some serious decisions to make as he strives to get his team back to winning ways.

Carlisle will pose different problems to Tranmere and Stevenage. Greg Abbott favours a diamond shape midfield, a formation the Addicks have not encountered so far this season.

The narrowness of the shape can lead to a congested midfield, which would inhibit Stephens and Hollands. Powell will be anxious for his wide men to see plenty of the ball and make good use of the space they will get.

Both Green and Wagstaff are likely to feature at some stage of the game and the performances of the duo may well be pivotal to the outcome of the game.
