The Invicta Dynamos have boosted their rear guard ahead of Sunday’s NIHL South Division 1 league opener against the London Raiders by securing the return of experienced blue liner Peter Beerling.
Peter Beerling returns to the club having already iced 136 times in the white, red and blue of the Dynamos – his most recent appearances coming in 2011/12 when the defenceman stepped up from the Mustangs for 28 NIHL South Division 1 outings.
1 goal and 6 assists, as part of a string of strong displays at the back for the Mos, saw him become a regular feature for the team before, last season, Beerling then returned to the Mustangs where he was near ever present.
21 league appearances in the NIHL’s second tier resulted in 8 goals and 14 assists for 22 points – his efforts helping secure a mid-table finish for the side.
Now though the blue liner will return to the Dynamos on Sunday as the Silver Blade’s most senior side look to start their 2013/14 league campaign in winning style.
Speaking on the return of Peter Beerling, Head Coach Kevin Parrish declared himself pleased to have the blue liner back on the books but admitted that the skater’s long term future was still to be determined.
Parrish said, “It’s great that Peter has agreed to come back on Sunday and his presence will allow us to run with three lines of ‘D’ giving some of the lads more of a break between shifts.”
“He is an old hand at this, adds plenty of experience and a cool, calm head at the back who will always offer consistent performances. I look forward to having him back on the ice against the London Raiders and then I will have discussions with him regarding his availability over the rest of the season”.
Peter Beerling will make his comeback for the Dynamos on Sunday 22nd September as the team host the London Raiders in the NIHL South Division 1.
Faceoff at the Silver Blades Ice Rink Gillingham is at 5.15pm.
