The FA Cup got underway yesterday evening at the Extra Preliminary round as Bearsted and Peacehaven & Telscombe served up goals galore.
Bearsted came out flying and in the first minute Lucian Scarlett received the ball on the left from Tom Penfold then cut inside, his shot was fumbled by Lawrence Sanded and Andy Irvine reacted the quickest knocking it in from four yards.
The home side were on a high and in the seventh minute nearly made it two when Scarlett running onto a through ball saw his shot saved at the second attempt by Sanded.
Peacehaven suddenly came into the game with the majority of possession up until half time and it was no surprise when they equalised.
In the 25th minute Cameron Wiltshire received the ball 20 yards out, controlled it and then shot past Scott Andrews. Two minutes later they nearly took the lead when the ball crossed into the area saw Curtis Ford turn and shoot but it was deflected away for a corner.
Just after the half hour mark in a rare Bearsted attack Jon Rogers was put through, and from 16 yards his shot was pushed away by Sanded.
In the 38th minute Andrews saved Bearsted when Festos Kamara from the right cut in, played Ford in and from eight yards out Andrews came out and blocked it.
In the first minute of added on time Sidney Adams with time on his side played a back pass that went for a Bearsted corner, it was taken short to David Baronowski who went to the by-line, crossed to the back post where Irvine was and he from two yards out headed into an empty net.
The half time whistle went and the Peacehaven management could not believe the scoreline as they had dominated most the half but goals count.
Half Time 2-1
The second half started like the first with Bearsted in the ascendancy and in the 59th minute they increased their lead when Penfold collected the ball on halfway, ran forward with no one getting near him and then from 25 yards his cross shot beat Sanded.
People around the ground thought that was game over but the F.A.Cup always brings us a bit of magic and so it did once more even at this early stage of the competition.
Three minutes later and Peacehaven got a goal back when Ford put Callum Edwards in, from 15 yards he shot past Andrew’s game on.
In the 65th minute it was nearly three all when Kamara on the edge of the area saw his shot pushed around the post by Andrews. Three minutes later and a foul in the area saw a penalty given to Peacehaven. Wiltshire shot straight down the middle, making it 3-3.
Then five minutes later it was four when a ball into the area was spilled by Andrews and Max Hollobone who initially fell over got up and shot home from four yards.
Peacehaven were now going for the jugular, in the 75th minute Edwards on the left cut in and passed to Wiltshire, his goal bound shot was deflected for a corner.
Then in the very next minute it was five when a corner was half cleared to Connor Morley on the edge of the area volleyed past Andrews, it nearly became six when Kamara in on goal saw his saved by Andrews.
The grandstand finish nearly came when Rogers in the area was allegedly fouled and a penalty given, up stepped Elyon Marshall Katung for the home side, who leisurely walked up and saw his penalty hit the post.
After that Peacehaven managed the last five minutes and their road to Wembley carries on while Bearsted have a few days to get over this defeat before their League season gets underway on Saturday.
