Bearsted kept the Wembley dream alive by funnily enough beating Wembley after Saturday’s draw, with a performance that they fully deserved the victory.
They now play Southall in the next round of the FA Cup at home.
Bearsted came out of the blocks the quickest as in the 1st minute a corner into the area saw Dan Melvin’s header from 8 yards go just wide.
In the 9th minute Bearsted took the lead in bizarre fashion as a short corner was taken to Adam Turton who on the edge of the area saw his cross avoid everyone & end up in the net.
Four minutes later & the lead was doubled when a free kick on halfway went to the back post where Colby Wait headed back across goal & 3 yards out Dan Melvin headed in.
Bearsted were now in complete control & in the 28th minute another corner found Wait but his header flew over the bar.
Wembley got a goal back in the 37th minute against the run of play when Jonathon Key on the left got to the by-line before his low cross to the back post found Alfie Bates who side footed it in from 2 yards.
Goals change games & suddenly Wembley started to get a bit of possession but Bearsted held on till half time.
The second half saw an even Stevens half as both sides had their chances, in the 50th minute a long ball down the left hand side saw Dan Septon latch onto it & from 15 yards saw his shot come back off the post.
Twelve minutes later Bearsted had their first chance of the half when Jordan Tingley on the left wing cut inside & from 20 yards saw his shot go just past the post.
In the 68th minute Bates saw his 25 yard effort go just past the post. The game was on a knife edge & in the 75th minute Bearsted thought they had increased their lead when a free kick to the back post saw Wait headed back across goal when a flicked header was headed off the line.
In the 89th minute Rowan Larrington received his second yellow card & was sent off.
In the 3rd minute of added on time Bearsted secured the victory when Tingley juggling with the ball passed to Joel Wakefield who went into the area & from 15 yards his curling effort beat Charlie Wealands.
The game went on for another 6 minutes but Wembley could not get back & their appearance in the F.A Cup is over.
