The central defender, affectionately known as the BFG, said this on his official Twitter account:
“Devastated to find out that today’s MRI confirmed that I have completely ruptured the fibular collateral ligament in Saturdays game against Bradford.
“I will be sidelined for a couple of months, but will work very hard to be back stronger!
“Thank you for all your messages!”
Charlton’s Head Of Medical Services, Alastair Thrush, gave an update on Bauer on Monday afternoon:
“Pat sustained an injury to the lateral ligament of his right knee in a challenge late in the game on Saturday.
“He has had an MRI scan today to further assess the damage to the ligament and following this scan he will see a knee consultant tomorrow in London to discuss the best management for the injury.
“We will know more details regarding the expected time to return following this appointment with the specialist.”
Lee Bowyer must be wondering when his injury woes will come to an end.
