Barnsley v Charlton Ath Preview

David Flitcroft has rejuvenated Barnsley and the Tykes are in good form right now. They have had two difficult away games at Crystal Palace and Cardiff in the last week and taken creditable draws from both.

Their last three games at Oakwell have seen Barnsley beat Brighton, Watford and Leicester so this is no easy task for Chris Powell’s team.

Marlon Harewood and Sheffield Wednesday loanee, Chris O’Grady, will likely spearhead the home attack with Jason Scotland and Chris Dagnall waiting in the wings if Flitcroft needs to bolster his attack.

The Addicks are in good form too and they have performed well on the road all season. Powell may stick with last Saturday’s 4-4-2 formation that worked so well for him. Mark Gower will be pressing for a starting berth but Florent Rouamba seems unlikely to be involved.

The manager may field an unchanged team and start with this line-up:

Hamer; Solly, Dervite, Morrison, Wiggins; Pritchard, Hughes, Jackson, Harriott; Kermorgant, Fuller.

Subs: Button, Taylor, Stephens, Gower, Wilson, Haynes, Obika.

Geoff Eltringham from Tyne & Wear will be the referee.

Barnsley are still hovering around the relegation zone and will be desperate to keep their winning home run going. They may have to settle for a share of the spoils this time though.
