Meeting for the second time in just over a month, Welling and Barnet were again unable to produce a winner.
Although Barnet played a passing game that was easy on the eye, Welling played the more incisive football and will probably feel the more disappointed at not winning.
Harry Crawford for Barnet and Welling’s Loui Fazakerley had early opportunities before David Stephens headed Kieron Cadogan’s header wide.
Doug Bergqvist saw his header cleared off the line by Elliott Johnson and Lee Clarke shot wide on the half volley as Barnet struggled to deal with the dead ball deliveries of Alex Dyer and Jack Obersteller.
Graham Stack made a hash of a Lee Clarke through ball but recovered quickly to scramble the ball away.
Stack was further embarrassed when dropping a Ross Lafayette cross and Alex Dyer swept home but the referee deemed that Joe Healy had fouled the goalkeeper when it looked as if he had been impeded by his own defender, Stephens.
Clarke rose to head over from an Obersteller free kick before Barnet’s Mark Byrne chipped over from 25 yards.
Barnet’s best spell came approaching half time. A Crawford shot was kept out by a combination of Lee Butcher and the outside of the post.
Luisma Villa then beat Butcher with a shot from the edge of the penalty area but saw his shot fly beyond the far post.
Finally, Cadogan missed the Bees’ best chance of the half when forcing his way through but shooting wide.
Bergqvist was unable to continue after the break and was replaced by Blaine Hudson.
Butcher saved comfortably from Villa before Welling again threatened.
Jake Gallagher sent Lafayette away but Stephens dived into his path to block his shot away for a corner.
Stephens came to Barnet’s rescue again moments later when tackling Fazakerley as he looked certain to convert Healy’s through ball.
A bad injury to Obersteller that saw him stretchered off failed to see Welling disrupted greatly despite a re-shuffle.
Stack produced the save of the match from Lafayette’s first time shot after Clarke nodded down Gallagher’s cross and he was busy again moments later when saving from Hudson.
Another Dyer caused further havoc in the Barnet penalty area when Franks headed into the path of Hudson but Stack was out sharply to make another good save.
Substitute Kurtis Guthrie’s skill gave Dyer a chance but his shot flicked the bar and the roof of the net then Fraser Franks had a chance from a Harry Beautyman corner.
Barnet had a couple of half chances but the last real opportunity of the match was headed over by Clarke from another Beautyman corner.
