After seeing his young SCEFL Lordswood hold Isthmian South East side Cray Valley PM to a draw in the original tie, boss Matt Barman has called on his young side to match their weekend efforts in tonight’s replay.
Speaking to KSN after Saturdays 1-1 draw at Martyn Grove, the Lord’s coach told us, “We would have been so gutted for the boys if they at least didn’t get another shot at it, they were great!”
“I’m never going to talk us up as I’m a great believer that then the bigger the fall is. Work hard stay humble may as well be my team’s motto! I don’t know how well Cray did or didn’t play but what I do know is that we heard some very good things (about us) coming from their bench and now on Tuesday I think that they will really be right for it and that’s how we want it. We don’t want to be nicking bits here and there, we want people to give us our dues as we’ll then know where we are and what the next levels are.”
“We don’t have money and the boys we had out there don’t care for the money, they care for each other! In the last ten minutes we just began to look a bit tired, and I think that half time came at just the right time for us as well after they’d got on top after equalising,”
“Over the moon and so proud of the performance in front of a nice crowd, who will hopefully have had a good afternoon on a nice day. And that’s what we’re trying to build, if just two of them come back next week for our Vase game and that two then turns into four, we’ll be happy, that’s what we’re trying to build here!”
“We’ll go with the same attitude into the replay and see where we’re at – If we get the same performance, and I still think we can improve on that, and if they’ve got too much for us, they’ve got too much for us!
“All I want to do is walk off the pitch and not think we’ve left anything out there and then the result will look after itself! Let’s go and give everything we’ve got and if its good enough.”
