The Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain season gets underway next weekend at Brands Hatch and Rochester based Jamun Racing will once again be on the grid.
This season they will be reducing their entry from three cars to two in an effort to regain their Formula Ford title once again.
Their challenge will this season be spearheaded by Hastings based Jack Barlow who makes the move from Formula Four for this season.
The 18-year-old was confirmed for the season following a full two days of testing at the team’s home track last week.
Speaking about the opportunity to drive in the series, Jack said: “It’s all a bit last-minute because we have been keeping our options open. I had my first test with Jamun on Monday and it all went really well – plain sailing and very quick – and we did the deal there and then… Jamun’s history says it all really and everyone in the team seems nice and easy to get along with.
“I was out again at Brands yesterday, so I am going into the championship with a couple of days under my belt. I like the car a lot – it has a lot more power and torque than what I have been used to. I really enjoyed it and it seems to suit my driving style.
“This will be my second year in cars and I am looking to go out and win the championship. But I know it will be tough – there are several drivers out there in their second year of Formula Ford. I think it’s going to be a good year with some close racing.”
He will face tough opposition not least from Juan Rosso who was announced to be driving for Jamun this season before switching to Radical Sportscars, and also the returning Jayde Kruger who raced for the team in the second half of the season.
There is still one vacant seat in the team for the season and an announcement is likely to be made early this week on who will drive the second EcoBoost Mygale. With a number of drivers still looking for a drive competition could be fierce for a seat in the multiple championship winning outfit.
