Gravesend’s Team Hard are back on track this weekend as the VW Cup heads to Silverstone for the latest round of the Championship.

Tom Barley will be back in his VW and looking to improve on his results in the opening rounds of the Championship this season.

In preparation for this weekend’s race Tom has been working hard with one of his Team Hard teammates Jack Goff who races in the British Touring Car Championships.

Speaking about the work that they have been doing, Tom said: “Jacks a great driver, with a huge amount of skill. I’ve learnt a lot from him on track days, and actually owe a lot of my development to him. Yeah, it’s been really positive.

“I’ve learnt some of the GP secrets, that’s for sure. I’m hoping the Golf is the car to be in at Silverstone. The Siroccos have been so quick this year. I’ll be pushing hard to put some pressure on them, and get ever close to the front.”

After a good weekend in the last round at Rockingham Tom is ready to get back on track and credits the mechanics for their hard work after the last round to get the car ready for Silverstone.

He added: “I can’t wait. Rockingham was great for me and that’s really set me up well for this weekend coming.

“The guys at the team have made quite a few changes since Rockingham. We were struggling with rear bump in race one, and then mid corner over steer in race two. Hopefully we’ve found some middle ground now, which will stand me in good stead.”

Also back on track this weekend will be Team Hard boss Tony Gilham and Tom is looking forward to racing the boss and his famous number 34 car.

He said: “That is true! Tony’s a racer, and everyone that knows him can see how much he misses the driver’s seat. This is a good opportunity for him to get back out there. I’m looking forward to racing against him. Hopefully I get close enough to worry him!

“He knows if I get a chance I’ll make a move! He wouldn’t want or expect anything less.”
