Adam Ball shone with bat and ball on the first day of Kent’s 2nd XI fixture against Sussex as Kent ended the day with a 219 run lead with 9 wickets remaining in their second innings.
Adam Ball was the only player to pass 50 with a score of 59 from 91 balls as Kent were skittled out for 177 in their 1st innings at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence with Sussex left arm spinner Doram finishing off with 4-9 off of 5 overs, the pick of the visitors attack.
Ball was to really shine through when Kent came out to field with a devastating spell of left arm seam bowling taking 7-26 off 10.4 overs as the visitors were skittled out for just 68, trying to emulate the Australian batting line up as best as they could.
Kent were to do better on the hard pitch in their seconds innings with just captain Adam Riley departing for 11 with Ben Harmison and Tikane left at the close of play.
Harmison’s knock of 71* coming off just 76 balls to leave the visitors in need of quick wickets on day 2 tomorrow to stand any chance of winning this 3 day game.
Entry to the Spitfire ground to the game is FREE for all so come on down and support Kent for the next two days.
